Are you suffering from Sleep Debt?

Are you, or someone you know, sleep deprived? Are you suffering from Sleep Debt?

If you're not consistently meeting your sleep goals you're actually building Sleep Debt. As Sleep Debt accumulates over time it can have the equivalent effect on your body as pulling an all-nighter would.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about one in three adults in the United States don't get enough sleep on a regular basis, and it isn't just adults suffering. According to a National Sleep Foundation poll more than 87 percent of high school students in the United States get far less than the recommended eight to 10 hours which equates to a serious threat to their health, safety, and academic performance.

Research from multiple sources shows that there are many overlaps between Sleep Debt and our overall health, mood, and general well-being. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine chronic poor sleep may increase the likelihood of developing dementia, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity and even some cancers.

Most of us attribute Sleep Debt to being a normal hurdle in our daily lives. We don't understand what we're dealing with and that we're being slowed down by sleep deprivation at every turn. With that being said -- it's impossible to fix a problem we just don't fully understand.
